Quality assisted living, skilled nursing care and physical rehabilitation are right on the campus. Residents may move seamlessly from one service to another, and back to independent living, as physical needs demand.

Specialized assisted living for those with Alzheimer’s and memory loss is offered, as well, from Alexian Brothers Valley Residence located nearby.

Alexian Village offers all the amenities you would expect in a retirement community, and some that may surprise you. We provide all home and grounds maintenance, dining in either elegant or casual settings, housekeeping, flat laundry service, transportation and more.

The Village lifestyle features recreation, travel, activities, entertainment and fellowship. The Alexian Village is a community of men and women from around the world who have become friends, neighbors and family.

A Ministry Serving All Faiths

Alexian Village of Tennessee is a not–for–profit ministry of the Alexian Brothers, a world-wide Catholic order with more than 700 years of service to the elderly, the poor, the ill and the infirm.

Alexian Village of Tennessee came to be after the Brothers acquired the historic Signal Mountain Inn with the intention of using the pastoral site as a retreat and training center.

Alexian Inn

The Inn, located in the charming community of Signal Mountain, Tennessee about five miles from Chattanooga, was once a popular vacation destination for sophisticated travelers seeking to escape the summer heat. The Inn even had its own cable car that brought guests to its large front porch for a stay that featured beautiful sunsets, walks along wooded paths, and swimming in mountain lakes and streams.

After taking possession of the Inn in 1936, the Brothers began to feel their gem in the mountains was too precious not to share. They opened their doors first to elderly, frail men in need of a place live.

Over time the ministry grew to more residents and more services. Then in 1979 the Brothers broke ground for Alexian Village of Tennessee, which now supports a full-spectrum of retirement living resources and serves about 500 men and women of all faiths.

Today the original Inn is the comfortable 33-room assisted living center. The Alexian Brothers still maintain a residence on the mountain, however, and work to support the quality of life that is uniquely Alexian Village.

The Alexian Brothers Worldwide Headquarters and Generalate, which oversees the Brother’s international ministries is also located on the mountain.
