Clinical Pastoral Education
Chaplain Training at Alexian Village

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is an education offering that leads to certification process for students wishing to become recognized chaplains.  Alexian Village of Milwaukee offers an "extended unit" yearly; beginning in the fall and concluding in the spring.  The next session begins September 20, 2012 and concludes March 13, 2012.  

Students meet with
Rev. Agustin (Jojo) Orosa, Jr. OSCAM., CPE supervisor for education and formative class sessions. Students then meet with Alexian Village residents for pastoral care visits. Since 1991, Alexian Village of Milwaukee has offered CPE classes and is accredited with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc., 1549 Clairmont Road, Suite 103, Decatur, GA. 30033, (404-320-1472).

Students include leaders of faith communities, seminary students, religious men and women, chaplains, deacons and deaconesses, ministers of care or coordinators of care, lay ministers, healthcare professionals, pastoral associates and parish nurses.  Classes meet on Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  The next session begins September 20, 2012 and concludes March 13, 2012.

The education sessions includes expressions of empathy and compassion, sensitivity to personal stories and histories, family systems understanding, theological reflections, medical ethics, contextual learning, group skills and partnerships, leadership development, management of personal issues in times of crisis, institutional dynamics and integration of theory and practice.  Alexian Village of Milwaukee, 9301 N. 76 Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53223, (414) 355-9300.
